Dixie update :)
Just talked to the vet…Dixie is out of surgery, awake but groggy. She did fine and has about 10-12 stitches.  They got the whole mass and a lot of tissue around it (and a smaller benign mass nearby). It wasn’t deep or wrapped around other organs or anything crazy so that’s good, surface.  Now I just have to wait 48 hours (hopefully they get it done before the weekend) for the lab...

carolinablueandaspotteddog asked: Just read your sad news about Dixie. Wanted to let you know that it can turn out OK. My pup had cancer last year. The tumor was wrapped around a nerve in his leg and his femoral artery. When they took him in for surgery they told me that he may never walk again.

More than a year later, he's not only walking but he's cancer free. I hope and wish the same success for you and...

sad doggie news
I really do have tons of fun and interesting things to post from the past 2 weeks, but am lacking the time. (really, guys, some hilarious pics!) BUT for now, I have some sad-need-your-thoughts-good vibes-and-prayers kind of news… I’ll just copy/paste the email I sent to friends and family: I found out today that Dixie has cancer. I have scheduled a surgery immediately for tomorrow. She...

I AM still alive
But since I’ve been “gone” for so long, let me fill you in on what’s been going on over the last week and a half… - Quit my job - Started a new job - Bought a new laptop (yes, this is the first time I’ve OWNED my own laptop. sad, I know) - Went on a massive shopping spree, oops - Visited my parents in Winston and played some croquet - Had the Bucket Race at...

My first tear. It’s my last day at the job I’ve been with for almost 3 years. I’ve had 3 going away lunches this week, someone made me a cake, someone else brought me flowers, and I’ve received about a gazillion emails wishing me well. And phone calls.  This outpouring of support and well-wishes has just gotten me all emotional. I’m not a crier…but I sure am...

COBBLER!!
If you live in the South it’s almost imperative that you know how to make a good fruit cobbler. If you don’t, well now you do. I would love to claim this recipe but, alas, I can’t because I originally found it years ago here.  I’ve made it so many times that I feel like it’s my own, though.  Seriously - the best recipe EVER because it is both simple and delicious....

Mascara
You know how some people feel naked or off without their watch? Or their phone? Or fill in the blank… Well I feel “off” without mascara on. I know it’s dumb but it’s true…I guess because I have mile-long eyelashes but they are half blondish so you can’t see them well.  It’s kind vain but I feel prettier with mascara on. The fluorescent lighting in...

Proverbs 27  1 Do not boast about tomorrow,    for you do not know what a day may bring.  2 Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth;    an outsider, and not your own lips.  3 Stone is heavy and sand a burden,    but a fool’s provocation is heavier than both.  4 Anger is cruel and fury overwhelming,    but who can stand before jealousy?  5 Better is open rebuke    than hidden...
